Jul 17, 2025

Jakarta, 17 July 2025 – IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced a new collaboration with Hacktiv8, an immersive reskilling institution to help cultivate talent among future developers and drive economic growth. This initiative will prepare students to contribute to Indonesia’s vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

Hacktiv8 will localize and deliver IBM SkillsBuild in Indonesian, targeting students and faculty across selected local universities. Additionally, as a part of IBM SkillsBuild’s new university strategy, select students and faculty will also have access to IBM’s solutions like watsonx, (our portfolio of generative AI products) and Granite (our family of open-source large language models).

According to the latest IBM Institute for Business Value CEO Study, which surveyed CEOs across the world, including from Indonesia, revealed that executives expect the growth rate of AI investments to more than double in the next two years. Roughly one-third (35%) of Indonesian respondents believe the workforce will require retraining and/or reskilling over the next three years, while 67% say their organization will use automation solutions to address the existing skill gaps.

“As Indonesian businesses swiftly integrate AI to drive scale, cultivating a skilled workforce becomes crucial. Our vision is to nurture graduates who are tenacious problem-solvers, possess a growth mindset, and are equipped with cutting-edge expertise. This collaboration aims to bridge the skills gap, ensuring our workforce is prepared to harness AI's potential and contribute meaningfully to the nation's technological advancement,” says Juventia Vicky Riana, CEO, Hacktiv8.

“The rapid pace of AI innovation continues to inspire Indonesian businesses across all industries, making skilled talent more important than ever. The future of AI will be shaped by students, educators, and professionals who not only have the skills to use generative AI, but can also build and manage AI agents,” said Roy Kosasih, President Director, IBM Indonesia. “As part of IBM’s commitment to providing free AI training to 2 million learners worldwide by 2026, we are working closely with  organizations and universities alike to build capacity around AI by providing coursework and resources for faculty and students to ensure we have an AI-ready workforce.”

Hacktiv8 helps close Indonesia’s tech skills gap by transforming aspiring professionals into job-ready digital talents. Through a practical, career-focused curriculum, it empowers individuals to succeed in the tech industry and contribute to the nation’s digital growth.
