Bumrungrad Expands Relationship with IBM; Adopts IBM Cloud and SAP Managed Services

The adoption supports Bumrungrad's digital transformation and increases its agility and scalability.

Bangkok, Thailand – 20 August 2020: IBM (NYSE) and Bumrungrad International Hospital, one of the largest private hospitals in Southeast Asia, today announced that it will implement an intelligent cloud solution and migrate its SAP workloads to the highly-secured, performance-guaranteed and pay-per-use platform-as-a-service (PaaS) model of IBM Cloud from the existing on-premise infrastructure. This will allow Bumrungrad to drive innovation, enhance operational efficiency while also benefiting from one of the industry's most open and secure clouds for business.

 

Bumrungrad International treats over 1.1 million patients from over 190 different countries each year. As such, the delivery of innovative clinical and service experiences is the priority for Bumrungrad. This requires fully integrated systems with rigorous performance to support enable operational excellence is essential.

 

Bumrungrad decided to enhance the stability of its on-premises infrastructure by leveraging on new cloud capabilities, integrating on-premises and a cloud environment to increase its operational efficiency.

 

Bumrungrad will leverage IBM’s 24/7 SAP managed application on IBM Cloud and security managed services. Under the agreement, IBM will help Bumrungrad migrate its SAP and S/4HANA on-premise system to the highly-secure IBM Cloud environment with a guaranteed performance of 99.9% service level availability. It will also help Bumrungrad to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) and the overall operational risks.

 

With the new infrastructure in place Bumrungrad anticipates high levels of service in terms of availability and reliability, as well as enterprise-grade security. Technical staff can now devote time to strategic digital transformation initiatives as routine IT management and maintenance tasks will be reduced. The migration to the highly-secure IBM Cloud as well as the competency of IBM’s cloud security management will allow Bumrungrad to improve resiliency and security without disrupting business operations, while also leveraging higher value technology such as AI, analytics, blockchain, machine learning to further support its digital transformation.
