Bangkok, Thailand – 3 August 2020:IBM (NYSE: IBM) Security today announced that PTT Digital Solutions Co., Ltd., the innovation and technology engine of Thailand’s largest oil and gas company PTT Group, has established Security Operations Center (SOC) to help support PTT Group on cybersecurity readiness for the new normal eraLeveraging IBM security technologies, the center will provide PTT Group with the capabilities to early detect and monitor risk on cyber threats and any potential incidents 24x7, together with alerts and advisories, detailed trend analysis and attack metric reporting based on multiple threat intelligence feeds.

The challenge of operating businesses in the digital era today is not only to keep up with the latest technology, but also to be aware of its usefulness. The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically increased the adoption of digital technology, which has made the cyber threats detection capabilities even more important to the business operations of organizations. Cyber threats can bring many negative impacts to organizations, including the costs from ransom attack, the disruption of business, and in the worst case, the lost of customer trust. Cyber threats are hence not just a trend, but what every organization should be aware of,” said Mr. Terdkiat Prommool, Managing Director, PTT Digital Solutions Co., Ltd.

PTT Digital has operated more than 14 years, with over 1,000 employees, many of which are technology experts in ERP, Web Application, Mobile Application, and new technologies like Data Analytics, Blockchain, Chatbot, RPAetc., who serve clients both inside and outside PTT Group,” added Mr. Terdkiat. Three important factors that will be the standard of our security operation center are the expertise of our employees, the working processes that provide clear and speed actions once cyber threats detected, and the use of the powerful intelligent tools to monitor the cybersecurity incidents.”

Deployed by IBM Business Partner MFEC and equipped with IBM’s world-class intelligent threat detection capabilities and IBM Security QRadar security intelligence platform, PTT Digital’s new security operation center will provide PTT Group round-the-clock threat monitoring on any potential incidents, together with alerts and advisories, detailed trend analysis and attack metric reporting based on multiple threat intelligence feeds. The platform will also leverage AI technology for security context analysis to help detect and investigate incidents quickly in order to reduce the impact on business operations.

Cyberattacks have been a growing business risk, and these risks are only growing in the fast-changing landscape post-COVID,” said Wiboon Thanandornsuk, Country Manager for Retail, Industrial, Telecom and Government Sector, IBM Thailand. The early detection and effective incident response (IR), as well as investments in technologies that speed response time, are key to reducing impact from cyber security incidents and the subsequent cost from business loss. IBM is delighted to bring our world-class class security technology and services to help drive cyber resiliency and better protect the business of PTT Group in the face of new-normal world.
